'Tree-mendously' sad news as Snetterton's 'Scary Tree' falls during storm
Regulars to the Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk have been expressing their sorrow as the well known 'scary tree' fell victim to storm Ciara.
The high winds proved too much for the tree's once mighty arms and they came crashing down on Sunday 9th February during the storm.
Staff at the circuit say the tree remains rooted to the outside of the circuit at the Wilson hairpin close to the A11 trunk road, but now will just be known as 'tree'.
Snetterton says despite this 'major setback', the 2020 motor racing season is set to go ahead as planned, starting with this weekend's Snetterton Stages rally on Saturday 15th February.
It's now hoped the rest of the tree will make it through storm Dennis which is due to hit the region over the weekend.
