Storm Ciara: UPDATE: Amber weather warning for very strong winds in the East
The Met Office have issued an Amber weather warning for very strong winds for the East ahead of Storm Ciara tomorrow.
It means travel disruption is likely between 8am and 9pm on Sun 9 February as Storm Ciara brings a spell of very strong winds. Gusts of 60-70mph will occur widely in inland areas. Heavy rain will accompany the strong winds leading to very poor driving conditions. The winds will slowly ease from the north during the latter part of the afternoon and through the evening.

Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs expected
Longer journey times and cancellations, as road, rail, air and ferry services affected- Network Rail have instructed Greater Anglia to run at reduced speeds, meaning a special timetable will be implemented by the rail operator. LNER, which operates from Peterborough to London, will also be operating a reduced service.They have urged passengers with tickets for Sunday to use them on Saturday or Monday.
Some roads and bridges closed- the Orwell Bridge in Suffolk is closing from the early hours of Sunday until mid to late afternoon.
Power cuts with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
Injuries and danger to life from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties
