Police raid house in Bishop's Stortford following Streatham terror attack

A property in Bishop's Stortford in Hertfordshire has been raided by anti-terror police police after a terror attack in south London yesterday (2 February).

It's one of two addresses being searched by the Met's Counter Terrorism Command after two people were stabbed in Streatham High Street around 2pm by convicted terrorist Sudesh Amman.

The Metropolitan police said a device found strapped to his body was a hoax.

The 20 year old, who was shot dead by police, was released about a week ago after serving half of his sentence of three years and four months for terror offences.

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.

Police say this was an isolated incident and a cordon remains in place, as officers continue to patrol the area.

Search warrants are being carried out at two residential addresses in the south London and Bishop's Stortford areas respectively.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he will announce plans on Monday for"fundamental changes to the system for dealing with those convicted ofterrorism offences" following the attack.

He added: "Following the awful events at Fishmongers' Hall in December, we have moved quickly to introduce a package of measures to strengthen every element of our response to terrorism - including longer prison sentences and more money for the police."
