The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins revealed as chameleon on ITV's The Masked Singer

It's the new ITV singing show that's leaving everyone guessing.

The Masked Singer was back on our screens on Saturday night and it’s fair to say a few jaws hit the floor when the Chameleon’s identity was finally revealed.

There were guesses of Tom Daley, Jason Statham and even Anthony Joshua, so everyone was stunned to see The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins unmasked as the celebrity behind the costume.

The singing contest, hosted by comedian Joel Dommett, sees 12 celebrities sing for their survival in fantastical costumes.

The audience vote decides the bottom two each week, then the judges decide who goes out - or is 'unmasked.'

The judging panel of Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, Ken Jeong and pop star Ora failed to guess Justin's identity despite a series of clues and were shocked when he was unmasked.

Speaking to ITV Anglia Lowestoft singer Justin said: "You have got no idea who anyone is.

"I couldn't tell anybody I was on it. I wasn't even allowed to say the name of the show in an email.

"They said to me can I have a think of what I want to dress up as. When they suggested the chameleon costume, I had to be part of that and it had to be part of me."

The Masked singer continues on ITV on Saturdays at 7.00pm
