Peterborough United accept Charlton Athletic bid for Marcus Maddison

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has confirmed the club have accepted a bid from Championship side Charlton Athletic for midfielder Marcus Maddison.

Maddison, 26, has been a key player for Posh since arriving from non-league Gateshead in 2014 and has regularly been one of the top assist makers in League One.

It's been widely reported that Maddison has a £2.5 million release clause in his contract and he will now discuss personal terms with the Addicks.

However, MacAnthony also revealed that two other Championship clubs have also bid for the player this month, but as things stands, their offers haven't yet met Posh's valuation.

Maddison, who has scored 10 goals this season, has six months left on his contract at Posh.
