HST Farewell: Peterborough bids goodbye to stalwart of the East Coast Mainline
WATCH: ITV Anglia's Russell Hookey reports from Peterborough where the train paused on its journey to London.
Rail enthusiasts gathered at Peterborough on Saturday, 21 December to bid farewell to the Inter-City 125.
A railtour from Leeds to London was passing through to mark the train's retirement from services on the East Coast Mainline.
It has operated out of King's Cross, via Stevenage and Peterborough, to Yorkshire and Scotland since the 1970s.
Known as the 'High-Speed Train', or HST, the trains were introduced as the future of rail travel.
They continue to operate on the route out of St Pancras, which goes via Luton, Bedford and Kettering.
