Delays for commuters as rain causes rush hour queues

There were queues across the region's roads on Wednesday morning as a result of heavy rain the night before.

A long stretch of the westbound A14 near Ipswich was shut in one direction, because of the amount of water on the road.

Police closed the carriageway between the Copdock Interchange and Claydon at around 6.30am. It was shut for nearly an hour and a half in total.

Meanwhile on the A11 in Norfolk one lane was closed because of a two-vehicle crash which caused a lorry to overturn.

The lane closure was put in place just after 6am between Spooner Row and Wymondham.

South Norfolk Police, who cover that stretch of the road, encouraged commuters to 'drive to arrive'.
