A special event has been held in Hertfordshire for Second World War veterans who are too frail to travel to London for Remembrance Day commemorations.

The veterans were honoured with medals by the county's Lord Lieutenant in the fitting surroundings of the De Havilland Aircraft Museum near South Mimms.

Among the veterans was former Royal Marine Joseph Kelsey who fought with the French forces on D-Day.

All those honoured live in accommodation run by the not-for-profit company Quantum Care.

The awards were preceded by a full service of remembrance for the veterans and their families.
