Inquest into death of Norwich mum who suffered blood clot after cosmetic surgery

A five-day inquest into the death of a woman from Norwich after cosmetic surgery is due to conclude today.

Louise Harvey, who was 36, had breast enlargement and tummy tuck operations in London on June 17, 2018.

She died of a blood clot 17 days later on July 5 in a hospital in Norwich.

A post-mortem examination recorded that the mother of three died of a bilateral pulmonary embolism, a blood clot that occurs in the lungs.

Secondary causes were recorded as breast augmentation and abdominoplasty, the medical term for a tummy tuck.

A family statement said: "Louise was a loving, hard working, dedicated mother, daughter and friend to many and is greatly missed.

“We hope that through such investigations, changes and improvements can and will be made to help raise standards and prevent other families having to go through such tragic circumstances.

“The inquest is emotionally difficult for us all but we hope that lessons are learnt to improve the safety of patients and the information that is provided to them, so that this raises awareness and other lives can be saved.”

The inquest continues.
