Swapping toys to stop them ending up in landfill sites

Families have been swapping toys in a bid to curb waste going to landfill at an event in Cambridge.

Most toys can't be recycled and it's expected around 2,000 tonnes of plastic waste from costumes will be thrown away after Halloween alone.

As well as the toy swap, there was a chance to debate the environmental impact of plastics and other materials used for toys.

The free event was part of the Cambridge Festival of Ideas at the Cambridge Junction arts venue.
