Dinosaurs set to take over Peterborough Cathedral

  • Dinosaurs prepare to take over Peterborough Cathedral

Peterborough Cathedral is preparing to host 14 dinosaurs on loan from the Natural History Museum.

It's the latest event at the 900-year-old cathedral aimed at attracting more visitors through the doors.

The touring exhibition arrives in July next year and looks at whether the tyrannosaurus rex really was a ferocious hunter or more of an opportunist scavenger.

The Very Rev Chris Dalliston said he wasn’t concerned about holding the event, despite dinosaurs not being mentioned in the bible.

He said: “There are lots of things that are not in the bible. The bible isn’t a scientific textbook, it’s a story of people journeying and exploring their relationship with God and that’s what the bible is.

"And that’s what we’re trying to do in the cathedral too, help people think about the big issues of life and the universe and everything. That’s what faith is about.”
