Peterborough job fair held for laid off Thomas Cook employees

On 3 October, a jobs fair for ex-Thomas Cook employees took place in Peterborough. Over a thousand people were made redundant at the travel firm's head office in the city.

The free of charge recruitment event took place at Peterborough Town Hall. A range of employees from the Greater Peterborough area advertised their live job opportunities there. For instance, HMP Peterborough, John Lewis and University Centre Peterborough attended.

Former Thomas Cook employee Halima Ahcenedjaballah told ITV this event is just one display of local support.

The organisers, Opportunity Peterborough, provided employment advice and guidance to the attendees. Councillor John Holdich from Peterborough City Council told us how pleased he was that local organisations offered support so quickly.
