Boss steps down and jobs at risk at Archant
170 years of newspaper printing in Norwich is set to come to a close, with Archant announcing it is to shut its printing centre.
The company has decided to close it's printing operation on the Broadland business park in Thorpe St Andrew just outside of Norwich, which employees about 96 staff.
Archant say printing will be transferred to third party suppliers, namely Newsprinters based in Broxbourne in Hertfordshire. The delivery of its Norfolk and Suffolk newspaper titles will also be outsourced to the Menzies Distribution and Smiths News. Bosses say the majority of the current jobs at Thorpe will transfer to one of the third party suppliers.
Archant have also announced that the Chief Executive Jeff Henry is to stand down after running the business for five years.
The group’s chairman Simon Bax, who sits on the board of Channel 4, will take the role of executive chairman.
