A house near Saffron Walden is being searched after a man from Essex was arrested was on suspicion of terror offences and making threats to kill

The man was arrested on Friday, 30 August by officers from the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit.

He was subsequently detained under section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and taken to a London police station, where he remains in custody.

A warrant of further detention was granted at Westminster Magistrates’ Court meaning the man can be detained up until Friday, 6 September.

The investigation is being led by detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command.
