A Cambridgeshire family gives up garden in favour of model railway

For most, a garden is a luxury usually enjoyed from a sun lounger with a glass of something cold, or maybe even a sturdy pair of gloves and some bedding plants.

But the Page family in Little Paxton have done something very different with their own green oasis - they've installed a model village so impressive that it has turned into a tourist attraction.

Ivan Page and his wife, Sue, see sacrificing their garden in favour of the fifty-engine strong miniature railway as continuing a family tradition.

Sue's dad, David Keatley was an engineer and an electrician who started the railway in 1989 on his retirement.

When David died in 2011, Ivan took the baton.

The family now have open days in order to raise money for charity.

Their last event, in aid of Marie Curie, saw more than 200 people through the door.

Sue says that it's fantastic, but admits she does often run out of mugs for tea for all the visitors.
