Five teenagers arrested in connection with huge Peterborough fire

Cambridgeshire Police have arrested five boys, aged between 15 and 19, on suspicion of arson following the fire in Peterborough.

Emergency services were called at about 7pm on Thursday after reports of the blaze at Hotpoint in Celta Road in Woodston.

About £2million worth of damage was caused to 48 trailers. No one was injured during the incident.

Five boys, one aged 15, three aged 16 and one aged 19, have been arrested today on suspicion of arson and are currently in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.

The trailers containing washing machine parts went up in flames sending clouds of thick black smoke billowing across the city.

Firefighters from Norfolk and Suffolk joined their colleagues from Cambridgeshire at the scene.
