A man accused of committing a murder in Luton nearly two decades ago has been arrested in America and extradited back to the UK.

Soheil Mumtaz, who was 24 at the time, was attacked in Kenilworth Road on 4 April 2001. He died in hospital five days later.

Mohammed Tabraz, 39, has now been charged with his murder and was extradited back to the UK on Tuesday.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before St Albans Crown Court on Thursday.

The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit worked with the US authorities to carry out the extradition process.
