On the tenth anniversary of his death, a play about Sir Bobby Robson will open in Ipswich tonight.

'Bobby Robson Saved My Life' examines the impact the former England and Ipswich Town manager had on football fans. The performance will take place at the Ipswich Regent Theatre at 7.30pm, for one night only.

Sir Bobby was a much-loved footballing figure - he played for and managed the national side, along with clubs like Ipswich Town, PSV Eindhoven, Porto, Barcelona and Newcastle United.

The play focuses on three different individuals and the various ups and downs life throws at them. Poet and playwright Tom Kelly wrote the piece, which the production team have described as "heartwarming uplifting and inspirational".

A portion of each ticket sale will be donated to the Bobby Robson Charity. Sir Robson set up the charity in 2008, the year before he died from a fifth bout of cancer.

The foundation has raised £13.5 million. £12.2 million of this total came in after 2009, when the footballing legend died, aged 76.
