This morning (Friday), Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue exercised the 'rescue' part of their name - they saved a confused, eight-foot snake.

The reticulated python escaped from her tank in an Ampthill home. Because of the scorching weather she got confused and buried herself under a large oven.

According to firefighters called to the scene, she was "very heavy and very fast".

The python is now safely back in her tank and Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service has left the house.
