Heatwave triggers risk of further thunderstorms in the Anglia region

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the threat of thunderstorms in the Anglia region triggered by the heatwave.

The Met Office says: "The hot weather will spark scattered thunderstorms later on Thursday, continuing overnight."

The yellow weather warning is in effect from 3pm on Thursday 25 July until 4am on Friday 26 July

What to expect

  • Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures

  • Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services

  • There is a chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost

  • There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, or damaged by lightning strikes, hail or sudden gusts of wind
