The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for the risk of thunderstorms in parts of the Anglia region on Tuesday night into Wednesday.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for the risk of thunderstorms in parts of the Anglia region on Tuesday night into Wednesday.

The Met Office says scattered thunderstorms moving north tonight and early on Wednesday could lead to some power cuts and travel delays.

Most of the UK is covered by the weather warning with large parts of the Anglia region likely to avoid the storms.

The weather warning is in force from 6pm on Tuesday 23 July 2019 until 9am on Wednesday 24 July 2019

What to expect

  • There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost

  • There is a small chance of damage to property from lightning strikes, hail or strong winds

  • There is a small chance of a few homes and businesses likely, leading to some damage to buildings or structures

  • There is a small chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus
