Murder investigation begins after man dies following high street assault

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man died after being assaulted in Maldon High Street in Essex.

Two men were apparently assaulted in front of Iceland at the junction of Market Hill at around 8.50 pm on Saturday 29 June.

The man, a 27-year-old from Maldon, died from his injuries in Addenbrookes Hospital this afternoon (Sunday). The second victim suffered a suspected broken jaw.

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and they remain in custody for questioning.
