A prolific burglar is back behind bars after committing a knifepoint robbery in Cambridgeshire just three weeks after being released from prison.

Craig Chilman entered a home in Chatteris claiming he needed to use the toilet - but he then attacked the owner, leaving him with cracked ribs and concussion.

He also held a knife to his throat, demanding his bank card and PIN.

The 35-year-old, from Chatteris, admitted robbery and burglary and was jailed for 10 years.

Chilman had been released from HMP Brixton on December 7th last year after serving time for burglaries.

He was made to wear an electronic ‘Buddy’ tag but it took him less than a month to reoffend.

Chilman repeatedly punched his victim in the face and even demanded money from the victim’s parents, who are both in their 80s.

Chilman was arrested at a house in Chatteris after being identified on CCTV by the team who had been managing him since his prison release.

An old money bag was found next to him full of jewellery, a DVD player and a white box containing a watch.

A bank card in a woman’s name was found in a pocket inside his jacket, linking him to a burglary over the Christmas period.
