Convicted murderer jailed for threatening woman in Northamptonshire with screwdriver while on licence

A convicted murderer has been jailed for more than eight years after striking a woman on the neck with a screwdriver and stealing her handbag.

Terry St John, nicknamed "Spiderman" after scaling a 200ft tower block tokill a history lecturer in 1995, admitted carrying out the robbery in Brixworthon January 9.

The 53-year-old climbed into the victim's car, assaulted her and ran off withthe handbag, which caused her "considerable distress".He was originally handed a life sentence for murder in 1995 for clubbing Sean Mortimer to death with a claw hammer.He was later released on life licence.

On Wednesday, St John, of Acre Close, Mawsley, Northamptonshire, was once again sent to prison for robbery as the judge jailed him for eight years and four months at Northampton Crown Court.
