Cambridge 'Arts & Crafts' house to open to the public
An arts and crafts house in Cambridge that's been described as a time capsule opens to the public this week.
The David Parr House was a labour of love for the artist who lived there a century ago.
186 Gwydir Street was decorated by a craftsman involved in some of the grandest commissions of his day.
David Parr worked for FR Leach, the Cambridge company which partnered with designer William Morris to decorate churches, colleges and even a palace.
After his death in 1927 Parr's family continued to live in the house leaving his art virtually untouched.
The house has been bought and restored thanks to help from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
It officially opens to the public this week but if you want to visit you'll have to wait a little longer. It's proving so popular that tickets have already sold out for the year.
