Controversial Chinese tech giant Huawei plans Cambridgeshire base
Controversial Chinese tech giant Huawei is planning to to set up a base in Cambridgeshire
The company has paid £37.5 million for a 550 acre estate in Sawston and is planning to apply for planning permission for a research and development site.
Huawei is well known for it's mobile phones, but American officials have previously said they think Huawei could be funded and influenced by the Chinese government.
Earlier this month a leak from a National Security Council meeting revealed the Government's decision to allow Huawei to help build the UK's 5G network.
No-one from Huawei has been available to comment on the plans - but the company has said it will look at any feedback from people living in the area.
