Teemu Pukki: Norwich City striker wins Championship Player of the Season award
Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki has been named the Championship Player of the Season at the EFL awards in London.
The 29-year-old is currently the league's top scorer with 26 goals, with his latest two strikes coming in Saturday's 4-0 thrashing of QPR at Carrow Road.
Pukki joined the Canaries on a free transfer last summer from Danish side Brøndby.
The Finnish international beat off competition from Sheffield United captain Billy Sharp and Birmingham City's Che Adams to land the award.
Pukki's sensational form has been a key factor in helping Norwich rack up 84 points to top the Championship table.
The Canaries have an eight-point cushion over third-placed Leeds United with just six games remaining.
There was also recognition for Pukki's Norwich teammate Max Aarons who scooped the prestigious EFL Young Player of the Season prize ahead of Luton Town defender James Justin and on loan Derby County midfielder Harry Wilson.
Aarons, 19, only made his senior league debut in the East Anglian Derby against Ipswich Town in September, but has been an ever-present in Daniel Farke's side ever since.
Meanwhile, Luton striker James Collins won the League One Player of the Season award.
The 28-year-old has scored 22 league goals for the Hatters who set a new club record of 28 games unbeaten with a 2-2 draw against Blackpool on Saturday.
He was recently rewarded with his first call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad.
Luton look set for back-to-to back promotions and have an eight-point advantage over their nearest competitors Barnsley and Sunderland.
Doncaster Rovers striker John Marquis and Sunderland's Aiden McGeady were the other nominees.
There was an emotional moment earlier in the evening when the family of Northampton Town Club Historian Frank Grande picked up his League Two Supporter of the Year award on his behalf.
Mr Grande died last month, just days after he was recognised by the EFL.
He contributed to the club's matchday programme for nearly 40 years and wrote many books on the Cobblers.
