Police dog honoured at Crufts after being stabbed several times
It was an emotional day at Crufts yesterday for Hertfordshire PC Dave Wardell. Dave and his police dog, Finn, were honoured with the Kennel Club Friends for Life award.
In 2006, Finn was stabbed several times and left in critical condition after protecting his owner from an attack.
Since the attack, there's been a campaign to make attacking a service animal a criminal offence.
The annual Friends for Life contest at Crufts celebrates "the unique relationship people have with their dogs, the important role man’s best friend plays throughout our lives and the support they give us in the face of adversity."
