Jailed: Suffolk killer Steven Butcher sentenced to 21 years
A 24-year-old from Lowestoft has been jailed for more than 20 years after he stabbed a man to death in a row over a former girlfriend.
Steven Butcher, from Ashfield Crescent in Lowestoft, was sentenced to 21 years and 159 days after being found guilty of murder following a two week trial at Ipswich Crown Court.
Butcher had denied murdering 28-year-old Scott Tarrant.
He died in the early hours of Sunday 8 July after being taken to James Paget Hospital for treatment to multiple stab wounds.
Police were called at around 11.15pm the evening before to reports he had suffered serious injuries at an address in Underwood Close.
Enquiries led them to arrest Butcher at his home where he was found in a loft from the bathroom, and was laying down covered by various objects.
Butcher was charged with murder on July 9.
