Former MP condemns internet hoaxers who falsely reported his death

Sir Bob Russell was the subject of an internet hoax after his Wikipedia page was changed to say that he died.

The former Colchester MP and Mayor discovered the prank after a former council colleague received a surreal phone call.

Having seen the edited page, a relative contacted Sir Bob's former colleague and offered their condolences. Thankfully, Sir Bob's former colleague knew he was alive.

Wikipedia entries can be changed by anyone. The edit to Sir Bob's page was made anonymously.

Sir Bob said he will try to trace the "sick-minded person" who edited the page.
