Former Luton Town manager Nathan Jones has taken the unusual step of picking up the League One Manager of the Month award in his new team's kit.

The Welshman left the Hatters to take over at Championship club Stoke City on Wednesday.

Despite his departure from Kenilworth Road, Jones was still named the League One Manager of the Month for December and chose to receive the award in his new Stoke training gear.

Luton picked up 13 points from a possible 15 in December under Jones' leadership.

The Hatters are continuing to search for his replacement, with Mick Harford taking charge of the team for Saturday's big clash against promotion rivals Sunderland, and Jones has backed his old club to finish the job he started.

“I would like them [Luton] to see them achieve promotion, we put in place a very good things, very good processes, a real good culture and environment there with excellent players that are capable of getting automatic promotion," Jones said.

"I would like to see the job done and I would like to see them in the Championship because that is where the club at a minimum deserves to be and as I said they are group of players that are talented enough to be able to do that."

Meanwhile, Peterborough United striker Ivan Toney has won the League One player prize for December after he scored five goals in five games.
