Former football coach dies in car crash hours before he's due in court
A former youth football coach who's accused of sexually abusing 11 boys under the age of 16 has died in a car crash just hours before his trial was due to get underway.
Michael "Kit" Carson, 75, from Cambridge had been charged with 12 counts of indecent assault and one of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
He had denied the charged and was due to appear before Peterborough Crown Court this morning. He had also worked for previously worked for Norwich City, Peterborough United and Cambridge United.
He died in a single vehicle crash on the A1303 at Bottisham in Cambridgeshire yesterday.
Police say he was driving his red Mazda 3 at about 9.45am when it left the road and crashed into a tree. He was the only person in the car.
Emergency services attempted to save Mr Carson’s life but he was declared dead at the scene a short time later.
