Union backs plans for 'crucial' Stansted Airport expansion
Workers union Unite has backed plans for a major expansion of Stansted Airport.
The airport wants to increase annual passenger numbers from 35 million to 43 million. Planners are due to discuss the proposals next week.
Unite, which represents more than 2,000 airport workers, says it's crucial that Stansted is allowed to grow.
Uttlesford District council is due to discuss the expansion plans next Wednesday (14 November).
Unite is also supporting the expansion of Heathrow Airport where the new runway is forecast to create 77,000 new local jobs. The union has more than 34,000 members at Heathrow.
