Sepsis warning: how Warwick Davis's wife nearly died of the deadly infection
The wife of actor Warwick Davis says she feels lucky to be alive after being struck down by a potentially deadly trio of sepsis, meningitis and Strep B infections.
Sammy Davis nearly died following a routine back operation at Addenbrooke's hospital. She and her husband - the Star Wars and Harry Potter actor - have praised the work of doctors and nurses there who saved her.
Sepsis is a serious complication of an infection that can lead to multiple organ failure and death
-Early symptoms may include fever, or chills and shivering
-fast breathing
-slurred speech
If caught early though, the infection can be controlled by antibiotics.
