Historians trying to put names to lost generation of WW1 soldiers

Historians in Hertfordshire are enlisting help from the public in putting names to faces of soldiers sent off to war in 1914.

The soldiers were pictured on the platform at Letchworth railway station waiting to be sent off to France.

The Herts At War project has tracked down thousands of items relating to the county's role in World War One

Weapons bearing testament to the war's horrors are also on display.

Herts At War is housed in Hitchin's British Schools Museum. Some of those who fought were educated here but 68 did not come home.
