Plans to scrap Northamptonshire councils submitted
A plan to scrap all the authorities in Northamptonshire and create two new unity authorities has been submitted to the government.
However Corby, one of the eight councils that would be abolished, has rejected the plan.
The decision to change how the county is run came about after it got into serious financial difficulties.
The proposal to create two unitary authorities was put forward by a government inspector who investigated the county council's finances.
It went to a consultation and seven of the eight councils affected said they supported the plan.
A response to the proposal is expected in early Autumn.
