Grant Holt: Norwich City legend announces retirement
Norwich City legend Grant Holt has announced his retirement from professional football.
The 37-year-old scored 78 goals in just over 160 games for the Canaries after joining them from Shrewsbury Town, and captained them to successive promotions from League One to the Premier League in 2010 and 2011.
That form led to him winning the club's Player of the Season three years in a row, before he was eventually sold to Wigan Athletic in 2013.
He was touted with a call-up to England's Euro 2012 squad after he scored 15 goals in his first season in the Premier League, but was overlooked by then-manager Roy Hodgson.
During recent years, he has mainly played non-league football, and had a short spell with King's Lynn in 2017.
However, he has now decided to hang up his boots for good and will take on a role at Norwich as an academy coach.
In a post on Twitter, Holt thanked fans for all the support they've given him over the course of his career.
Following news of Holt's retirement, Norwich fans flocked to social media to pay tribute to their former striker.
