The space capsule which carried astronaut Tim Peake to and from the International Space Station will be on display at Peterborough Cathedral from August 11.

The Soyuz capsule travelled at 17000 miles an hour as it carried Yuri Malenchenko, Tim Kopra and Tim Peake on their Principia mission December 2015 to June 2016.

Visitors to the 900 year old cathedral will be able to see the capsule, its 25 meter parachute and Tim Peake's space suit.

As part of the exhibition there will also be a virtual reality experience narrated by Tim Peake.

Users will be able to experience what it feels like to sit inside the Soyuz’s descent module as it made its journey back to earth.
