Peterborough United have continued their busy summer with the signing of Newcastle United striker Ivan Toney.

The former Northampton Town trainee becomes Posh's 16th new arrival of the transfer window.

Toney, 22, joined Newcastle from the Cobblers in 2015 but failed to make an impact in the first team.

He has spent the majority of his time at Tyneside on loan at League One clubs - most notably Scunthorpe United and Wigan Athletic.

Toney has signed a three-year contract at the ABAX Stadium.

“It goes without saying that I am obviously delighted to land the signature of Ivan Toney. He is a young man who is coming from a great football club but has predominantly in the last few seasons been around a number of clubs on-loan and it has to be said, he has been successful at each of them," manager Steve Evans said.

“It goes without saying that we welcome Ivan, he has added to a strong group and brings competition in the attacking areas."

Meanwhile, Swansea City have recalled midfielder Adam King from his loan spell at Posh.
