Child hit by car in Maldon, Essex left fighting for life

Two people have been arrested after a girl was left with life-threatening injuries when she was hit by a car in Maldon, Essex.

A blue BMW had been seen driving erratically along King Street and crashed into a number of vehicles before the girl was hit at about 6pm.

Police have thanked members of the public who helped them by restraining one of the people believed to been in the car.

The girl was taken to hospital in London by air ambulance.

The pair arrested are in custody on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
