A pensioner drove almost 200 miles on New Year's Eve to pump his own faeces through the front door of a former friend, a court has heard.

Geoffrey Holroyd-Doveton, from Rawmarsh in Rotherham, stored up the excrement and fashioned his own "plunger-type device" in order to carry out the crime.

The 75-year-old was captured on CCTV pumping the faeces through the letter box of a home in High Garrett, Braintree.

Ipswich Magistrates' Court heard he had developed a grudge against his victims over two years - and had been planning what police called a "really horrible premeditated incident".

After he had committed the offence, he drove straight back up to South Yorkshire.

Holroyd-Doveton admitted criminal damage and was handed an eight week suspended sentence and ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work.

He was also given an indeterminate restraining order, which means he cannot contact or go within one mile of the home in High Garrett.

He will also have to pay both victims £500 compensation each.
