Warning after drivers stranded on flooded Fenland road

Police are warning drivers to avoid flooded roads around the Norfolk/ Cambridgeshire border after some had to be rescued.

The notorious A1101 Welney Wash Road flooded over the bank holiday and was closed on Tuesday.

Despite warnings and signs, vehicles have ended up stranded in the water.

The Welney Wash is a flood plain that is often left impassable, with the village cut off and drivers facing a 30-mile detour.
