Children have been playing at Wicksteed Park in Kettering for nearly a hundred years.
Now the Northamptonshire Park is getting a £4.5 million facelift.
Building work has just started with the plan to celebrate the park's long history of play, by giving some of its original features a new lease of life.
The park was founded in 1921 - by the engineer, Charles Wicksteed.
The project is part-lottery funded and will restore the original heart of the park. The central precinct and part of the historic pavilion are just some of the areas being refurbished.
It is hoped all the work will be completed in around three years time- ready for the park to celebrate its 100th birthday.
