Marcus Edwards: Norwich City land Tottenham youngster on loan
Norwich City have signed highly-rated Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Marcus Edwards on loan until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old, who was once likened to Lionel Messi by Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino due to his low centre of gravity and quick feet, was a target for multiple Championship clubs but has chosen to spend the rest of the campaign at Carrow Road.
Edwards is ineligible for Wednesday's FA Cup replay at Chelsea, but could make his debut against Sheffield United on Saturday.
"Marcus is a young player with huge potential," Head Coach Daniel Farke said.
"He is rated as one of the biggest talents in English football but will need some time to adapt to a new surrounding and to the physical game in the Championship.
"Again, it's a sign of our way to work with young and talented players."
Edwards helped England under 19s win the European Championships last summer, but has yet to taste first team football on a regular basis - something he says he's keen to experience at Norwich.
"I'm really excited to get started and can't wait to help the team," Edwards said.
"After hearing about Norwich, I started watching more videos. Then when I spoke to the manager, he made me feel welcome and explained how he wanted to play.
"There are a few young players here and that will help me.
"It's a big move, but I'm excited about it. I like to get on the ball, take people on, create things and score goals. I've looked at the table and the fixture list. I'm hoping to get involved as soon as possible."
