'Hotspots' map shows high concentration of dementia in the Anglia region
A new 'dementia hotspots' map has revealed the devastating impact of the disease in the Anglia region.
The map, produced by the Cambridge charity Alzheimer's Research UK, shows North Norfolk, Clacton, Bury St Edmunds, North West Cambridgeshire and Saffron Walden have a higher number of cases than the national average.
In the UK around 850,000 people have dementia. Over 86,000 of these live in the Eastern region.
The charity hopes the map will raise awareness and push it up the political agenda.
