A promotional video celebrating Norwich and its historic cathedral has caught the eye of Hollywood star Russell Crowe.

The stunning short film was put together by BAFTA-winning filmmaker Rob Whitworth and will be used as part of a digital marketing campaign funded by 'Norwich BID' (Norwich Business Improvement District) that is aiming to attract more visitors to the city.

Mr Whitworth, who has worked on BBC's Planet Earth II, donated the video to the cathedral after moving to the city ahead of the birth of his second child.

The film, entitled ‘Norwich… a story’, has received lots of praise on social media - including from 'Gladiator' actor Crowe who shared the video with his followers.

Bosses at the cathedral are now hoping the video will inspire people to head to Norwich and sample some of the attractions it has to offer.

Mr Whitworth added that he was more than happy to help and believes it will be worth all the effort.

“Norwich is a beautiful city with so much history," he said.

"I’ve had a great time exploring and filming some of the sights during this project, experiencing some of the best views of Norwich with the aim of capturing them in the best light.

"When you live somewhere it’s easy to not appreciate it, so it was cool to see a familiar place with fresh eyes.”
