Northamptonshire Police officers to start wearing baseball-cap style protective hats
Police officers across Northamptonshire will start wearing baseball-cap style protective hats from today.
The caps, which have a reinforced internal frame, will replace the traditional Custodian and Bowler hats by 9 June.
Northamptonshire Police will be the third force in the UK to make the change, after Cheshire and Lancashire.
Northamptonshire Police say the new caps are lighter and more comfortable than the traditional hats currently worn by police officers and PCSOs - and they are "significantly cheaper".
