Norwich City Sporting Director Stuart Webber has revealed that the club are hoping to appoint their new Head Coach by the end of the month.

The Canaries are still searching for a successor to Alex Neil who was sacked in early March.

Alan Irvine acted as the interim boss until the end of the season, guiding the team to an 8th place finish in The Championship, but he isn't in the running to take the job full-time.

Fleetwood Town's Uwe Rösler is the favourite with the bookies to take over at Carrow Road, although Webber didn't want to be drawn on specific targets.

Norwich have already started shaping their squad ahead of what is sure to be a busy summer, with many more comings and goings expected by the time the next campaign gets underway in August.

Seven players were released last week, including long-serving goalkeeper John Ruddy, and Webber was pleased to give the 30-year-old a chance to say goodbye to the club's fans in the 4-0 win over QPR on Sunday.

"So many times as football fans, players leave who've done well for the club and you never actually have the chance to show the respect to them and visa-versa," Webber told ITV News Anglia.

"I think, although it was a difficult decision, it was a good decision. If you saw the send-off John was afforded, I thought that was fantastic - it was great for him and his family and it was well-deserved."

The futures of Alan Irvine and the rest of the current coaching staff is something else that Webber hopes to resolve soon, but that will largely be dependant on whether the new Head Coach wants to bring his own men with him.

"Alan has come on record many times and said that he'll speak to the Head Coach as and when it's done and it might not be for him," Webber said.

"He lives a long way away and he's said that he's not just going to turn up to work everyday and pick up the balls and bibs and I fully respect that.

"What he's done in the game, he shouldn't be expected to do that, but if it's right for him and for the club - then fantastic."
