Alex Neil: 'It has been an honour and a privilege to manage Norwich City'
Former Norwich City boss Alex Neil says it was an "honour and a privilege" to have managed the club but admits he was hugely disappointed to have lost his job.
The Canaries sacked the 35-year-old on Friday night, bringing to an end Neil's two-year reign in charge at Carrow Road.
The Scot led Norwich to the Premier League in his first season in Norfolk, but suffered relegation immediately after.
Norwich have struggled to live up to their billing as one of the Championship promotion favourites this time out and currently sit 9th in the division and eight points adrift of the play-offs.
Neil has now released a statement via the League Managers Association in which he thanked the club's board for the support they gave him.
