Milton Keynes will host the AJ Bell National Badminton League Final... but it won't involve one of the competition's newest franchises, the Suffolk Saxons.

Going into the final round of matches the Saxons had to beat the University of Nottingham by a big margin at Ipswich's Corn Exchange last night (Monday). They would then have to rely on other results going their way.

But their opponents, featuring Olympian and 2014 Commonwealth champion Chris Adcock, also had their sights on Finals Day and rose to the occasion.

Despite winning the women's doubles on the night, the Saxons lost 4-1, with Nottingham going through to Wednesday's final at centre:mk where they'll meet near neighbours Team Derby.

Suffolk finished fifth in the table, but Head Coach Anthony Clark said he was 'incredibly proud' of their first NBL campaign.
